The Big Tancook Island Emergency Response Association (BTIERA) is a Canadian Charity and is registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stocks. Its members are trained as volunteer firefighters and several members are trained as Medical First Responders. The Association operates firefighting vehicles and equipment and a medical response vehicle for the transportation of patients. Patients are taken to the ferry by our Medical First Responders for transfer to EHS paramedics on the mainland or to the island helipad for transfer to the EHS LifeFlight helicopter.
