Birdsong New Music Foundation is a nonprofit National Canadian Charity, founded to commemorate the spirit and memory of musician David Martin. Through Birdsong David’s deep love for songwriting and music performance has inspired a new community of "Birdsong Artists/musicians", ready to challenge the stigma of mental illness.  Birdsong was founded by David’s mother -- Margaret Konopacki — its mission is helping others like David find an outlet through their music , a sanctuary away from the negative aspects of living a life with mental illness, one song at a time. If you let it - music can help you save your life! Musician songwriters  diagnosed with a mental illness are encouraged to apply online to the "Birdsong Artist Grant program " .  Each "Birdsong artist" selected is awarded a grant  in the form of funds covering the full costs of producing / recording / editing / mastering their original music in a professional music studio (one song) , while retaining copyrights to their music. Your generous donations make the program and our fundraising events possible, so thank you !
