WE'RE DIGITAL (ALMOST)!
NSHN began replacing the Computed Radiography (CR) X-ray units at each site in 2017, as the equipment was at the end of its life. In order to keep up with current Medical Imaging, Digital Radiography is where it's at. The new Digital X-rays produce high quality images in a fraction of the time. This means less time on the X-ray table for the patient, less repeat images, and therefore less exposure to radiation. Win-win-win!
The NSHN Richards Landing - Matthews site was the first to go Digital, as they received a Portable Digital X-ray in 2017-18. In 2018-19, the NSHN Thessalon site received a Digital X-ray Suite.
The NSHN Blind River site now requires a Portable Digital X-ray and a Digital X-ray Suite to serve the needs of the area. This equipment is estimated to cost a minimum $320,000.
