The Bow River Seniors Lodge This Is Home Project will enable more Bow Valley seniors to continue to live close to the families and the communities they love. By making it possible for seniors to stay here in the Bow Valley region, Bow Valley Regional Housing (BVRH) will provide support for our entire community, strengthening the ties between generations and reducing the stress felt by caregivers separated from their loved ones.

The Bow River Seniors Lodge This Is Home Project will provide supportive and secure wheelchair-accessible housing for 63 seniors. It will also lay the groundwork for BVRH to offer an enhanced level of care in future years, meaning fewer seniors will be forced to move outside the region as their need for medical and support services increases.

Project Description:

Construction of a new wing for the Bow River Seniors Lodge supportive living accommodation facility, Canmore, Alberta

• 63 new residential units, replacing 58 aging units and resulting in a net increase of 5additional rooms
• all rooms will be wheelchair accessible, and will allow maximum flexibility in the level of care provided
• new wing will be located behind the existing Lodge, and will include new kitchen and dining facilities

Project Funding

While final costs will not be determined until the project is tendered, BVRH currently estimates the cost of Phase One of the Bow River Lodge This Is Home Project to be $15.7 million. The Governments of Alberta and Canada have committed up-front funding for Phase One, with BVRH contributing 20% over time. Phase Two of the project will explore the provision of Level Three and Level Four Care (24-hour nursing support) at the Lodge, addressing the current gap between care provided by BVRH and that provided by local hospitals.
