At Bread and Beyond, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to transition into stable housing with dignity. Our Essentials Box Initiative provides individuals and families moving out of homelessness or vulnerable housing situations with the daily essentials needed for a fresh start. The set of 5 boxes — kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, cleaning, and groceries — ensures that basic needs are met on their first night in their new home.
Often, newly rehoused individuals face empty spaces with little more than a mattress and large appliances. For many, the cost and effort of gathering household items can be overwhelming, leading to declining mental health or, in some cases, a return to homelessness. With support from corporate partners, the cost of each Essentials Box is approximately $30. This GivingTuesday, help us reach our goal of $18,000 to continue providing these life-changing boxes to people transitioning out of homelessness. A donation of $150 equips one household with the tools they need for a successful transition into stable housing.
