Greener Pastures- BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society is a registered non-profit charity dedicated to working alongside trainers, owners and caretakers of Standardbred horses in BC. Since 2003, Greener Pastures has taken on and rehomed hundreds of harness racehorses after transitioning their harness training to saddle training- giving them a new career after hanging up their racing shoes.
The Standardbred is an ideal recreational horse with a calm disposition, sensible mind and a friendly outlook! These are the attributes that have enabled Greener Pastures to adopt out over 50 horses a year. These numbers alone are testament to the suitability of the Standardbred as a riding horse.
Greener Pastures is strictly volunteer run. Horses are donated to the program to ensure a safe and wonderful new home.
