About BB4CK

BB4CK works with Calgary schools and our community to make and deliver free healthy lunches for students who would otherwise go hungry. Through the work of community groups and volunteers, we impact 4,000+ kids each school day and this number grows every day. Our programs currently support students in 230+ public, Catholic, and private schools and feed kids from Kindergarten to Grade twelve. In the past 36-months, the number of kids fed through our programs has more than doubled.

Lunches are prepared in our main kitchen, and in various other locations throughout the city by community groups including retirees, parent groups, and local businesses.

Lunch is available to any young person who arrives at school without enough to eat. BB4CK works with school staff members to identify needs and to plan how best to make sure hungry students get the nutrition required to think clearly and learn.

The lunches provided through BB4CK are so much more than a sandwich, a bag of carrots, and a cookie. A lunch can have a powerful impact on a child’s health, education, and future. Kids who receive a BB4CK lunch improve their ability to focus and learn and have the energy to participate in physical activities. They have the confidence to make friends and to participate in their communities. When kids aren’t hungry, their self-esteem improves and they grow in all sorts of healthy and amazing ways.

On average, it costs $2.00 to make and deliver a lunch full of healthy, filling food for a hungry child in our city.
