ALBERTA 211 PHONE NUMBER

Alberta 211 is a free community and social services helpline and is available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. It operates as a not-for-profit and has provided centralized support services across the province since2001. 211 is not currently trained to respond to the needs of human trafficking victims.

Funding would provide:

- Extensive education and training to call centre and online agents ensuring fast and coordinated responses regarding human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

- Collection and reporting of Key Metrics required to monitor incidents and response effectiveness.

- Long-term integration of support services for human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE MODEL

#NotInMyCity is working with Children’s Services, the Calgary Police Service, Hull Services, McMan Family Services, Boys and Girls Club, and Alberta Health Services - Mental Health and Addictions to develop and pilot a Community Response Model to support adolescent victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking.

Based on research into the best practices of successful programs, frameworks and models throughout North America, the Community Response Model will provide rapid, community based wrap around services to vulnerable youth requiring help and support.

Funding will play a significant role in #NotInMyCity’s ability to continue our critical facilitative role with development, implementation, and monitoring of the Community Response Model to ensure that no youth slips through the cracks.
