Bunny Run Rabbit Rescue Society’s mission is to catch, alter, and find permanent homes through adoption for domestic bunnies running at large in Medicine Hat and area. We are a foster based organization with over thirty rabbits being cared for at foster homes and at our intake center while they await adoption. We have rescued, given veterinary care and found loving homes for, or through our partners, close to 300 rabbits.
Founded in 2020, Bunny Run Rabbit Rescue Society is entirely volunteer based. Bunny Run has a dedicated feeding crew of volunteers that delivers food and helps begin the socialization process at about thirty feeding stations, three days every week, to abandoned and feral bunnies struggling to survive. When space and funds are available, rabbits are brought in and spayed or neutered to help combat the staggering reproductive rate, lessening the number of rabbits that are starving, trying to cope with extreme weather conditions, or at the mercy of vehicles, predators, pets and ill-intentioned people. These sad situations lead to veterinary emergencies, that our volunteers are called to respond to, with veterinary care being our largest expense.
Bunny Run also is the safe haven for rabbits requiring specialized care with ongoing long-term health conditions. Due to these health conditions these rabbits are placed in permanent foster homes and Bunny Run Rabbit Rescue looks after their continued veterinary care, any required prescriptions and specialized treatments.
