The Burlington Symphony Orchestra, formerly Symphony on the Bay, is a community-based symphony orchestra serving Burlington, Hamilton and surrounding areas in Southern Ontario.

The orchestra aims to enrich the cultural life of the community by providing aspiring young musicians and qualified amateurs with the privilege of playing challenging symphonic music along with a core of professionals. In addition, we provide affordable, accessible, and attractive concert programs in the magnificent Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

Since we began – as the McMaster Symphony Orchestra in 1973 -  more than 500 musicians have performed with our orchestra and many of them have gone on to distinguished professional careers in Canada and internationally.

Our Young Artists' Competition, held annually since 1991, offers winners the unparalleled opportunity to perform concerto movements with the full orchestra and reveals year after year the tremendous depth of talent and quality of music education in the region.
