Our Mission
Honouring the legacy of Senator Patrick Burns, we work to ensure that each child in Calgary reaches their full potential. By investing resources in the areas of education, health, and well-being, we build a strong community for our children and youth.
Burns Memorial Fund for Children is a charitable foundation established by Senator Patrick Burns, a Calgary pioneer and philanthropist. The Fund provides practical assistance to low-income families, as well as grants to youth-serving organizations. We support high school students to stay in school and graduate; help families with the costs of school fees, tutoring, recreation programs, eyeglasses, medications and other necessities; cover urgent dental treatment for children and youth; and fund Calgary organizations focused on the health, education and recreation needs of low-income children.
Our foundation works towards the following goals:
• Each child is healthy, safe and has access to optimal health care
• Each child is ready for school, experiences success in school and graduates
• Each child has the opportunity to participate in recreational activities which help them to discover their talents and develop their full potential
