Our Mission

Camp Health, Hope and Happiness exists to provide adapted week-long recreational summer camps to children and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. Established in 1960 and located 85kms West of Edmonton on Lake Isle, Camp He Ho Ha is a fully modern, fully wheelchair accessible year-round facility. Each year Camp He Ho Ha welcomes over 725 individuals with disabilities where they have an opportunity to participate in recreational programs designed to meet their special needs. During the campers stay families have an opportunity to take a much needed pause from the responsibilities of looking after an individual with a disability. Encouraging independence and integration for people with disabilities and fostering stronger, more resilient familiies able to meet the unique challenges they face is at the very heart of what we do.

Camp He Ho Ha is Alberta's first summer camp for people with disabilities and the only facility of its kind in the province that does not discriminate on the basis of the type or degree of disability. As a result, we welcome individuals with multiple disabilities as well as those who are medically fragile, many of whom would be denied a recreational opportunity at other facilities.

We recognize that many people with disabilities face significant financial barriers that could prevent a deserving individual from coming to Camp. We provide each and every camper with a subsidy valued at 50% of the actual cost to attend Camp. No one is denied a camping opportunity due to a lack of funds.

About CAMP HEALTH, HOPE & HAPPINESS SOCIETY

Camp He Ho Ha provides adapted recreational week-long camps to children and adults ranging in age from 6 to 104 and who come to us from communities large and small throughout the province. Someone in your area is benefitting from our barrier-free facility and specialized programming.

We are not a member agency of United Way, nor do we receive municipal funding. We are an independent nonprofit and we rely on the generosity of Albertans like you to ensure that we can continue to provide the best possible programming to the greatest number of people at the lowest possible cost. Because of our very successful facility rental program, 100% of your donation is applied to summer camp direct costs. Your gift in any amount is greatly appreciated and will benefit some of our province's most disadvantaged residents.
