New Sleepy Hollow

We are embarking on a building project that will increase the ministry reach and plan for the long term growth of our camp. With an ambitious vision of being a continually growing camp, we have a significant need to have additional indoor space for crafts, camp activities, indoor worship, games, movies, campfire, and much more. We have adapted our camp programming since demolishing the old “Sleepy Hollow” in 2023, having no opportunities for campfire on a rainy day and doing activities in smaller groups in our other buildings. The new build will offer a great space for rainy and cool days and be the only building with enough space to host indoor activities while at a full camp.

The new Sleepy Hollow will be about double the space of the old one, with 2800 sq ft setting us up for the future growth of our camp. Having set our strategic vision three years ago to grow our camps, we have seen 156% growth in camper numbers in just two years, to 183 campers in 2025 up from 117 in 2023. The new building is designed with versatility in mind, this space will also expand the ministry opportunities of our camp to extend further into the shoulder seasons, offering spiritual retreats and weekends of rejuvenation in God’s beautiful creation.

Through this new building we will be able to

  • Accommodate our increasing camper numbers (also giving us space to convert our current craft room into additional cabin space!)
  • Increase the number of children, youth, and families who hear the Gospel in an open & comfortable context.
  • Have enough space again for rainy-day activities.
  • Hold indoor campfires in a designated worship space.
  • Have our first fully wheel-chair accessible building with washrooms.
  • Extend our ministry season further into the shoulder seasons.
  • Offer new ministry opportunities like indoor church conference space, retreats, etc.

Thank you for supporting the long-term growth and success of Camp Okema.
