The Campbell River and District Adult Care Society is a registered charitable, non profit society established in 1980 that provides a variety of programs to assist adults with health challenges, including but not limited to dementia. The program focuses on maintaining or restoring each person to an optimal level of health while enabling caregivers to care for loved ones at home. This highly successful program focuses on nutritional (Hot Lunch Program), physical, emotional and psychological needs by providing various activities throughout the day. Our mission statement is “To restore a sense of dignity, reduce isolation, improve quality of life and assist individuals to remain independent in the community”. Each year we serve approximately 8500 clients. For every client we service, three additional family members benefit. Therefore, we provided more than 25,000 family respite days. Although COVID-19 has put many challenges that has limited our current capacity, we have been open through out the pandemic to assist many needed families, clients and friends while keeping everybody safe including our wonderful team at Adult Day Program.
We are the only Adult Day Program on the North Island that is committed to look after adults with dementia along with other health challenges. We offer great opportunities to volunteers by mentoring them to engage, advocate and support people living with dementia or other health issues and their caregivers. All ages are welcome as it promotes a caring atmosphere within our community, where everyone has a sense of belonging without fear of shame, worthlessness or embarrassment related to their disease processes. Our program has shown many successes to meet the increased nutritional needs of our lonely seniors.
Recently, we have purchased a property at 1201 Cedar St, Campbell River. Our vision for this property is to extend our program to assist many more adults in the North Island geographical area with a stand alone facility located in the downtown area of Campbell River to complement our programs in Willow Point and mobile program in Black Creek. The organizations’ 3-5 years’ plan has been initiated with the purchase of the lot on Cedar St and now the fundraising is underway for the initial $2,000,000 building fund to get the project started. This valuable project will cost approximately $6,000,000; we want to partner with you for financial support to reach our goal. Our hope is to start this project as soon as possible so we continue to help many more adults in our community who are suffering in isolation.
We like to partner with our donors so we can continue to grow and develop to meet the needs of our community. Your gift will translate into services for our most at-risk and vulnerable seniors and allows for the delivery of services and programs that would otherwise not be available. Our team at Campbell River and District Adult Care Society works hard to provide much needed services in Campbell River. We look forward to your response to support such an amazing much needed project in our community to help many adults to remain in their own homes. If you have any questions, please contact Pam at 250-923-0991. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to working together with our donors to make this project possible.
