About CAMPBELL RIVER HEAD INJURY SUPPORT SOCIETY

Campbell River Head Injury Support Society (CRHISS) is a non-profit charitable organization and we are hoping that your Foundation would be interested in providing financial support towards our Housing or Programming. The CRHISS has been offering services to brain injury survivors and their families for approximately 18 years. We also provide community education on head injury causes, effects, and prevention. Our service area is from Campbell River to the North end of Vancouver Island including the outlying islands. Our main objective is to help the survivors live productive and prosperous lives that include assisting them to find safe and affordable housing. Some of the programs and services that we offer are: socialization, lifeskills, computer training, coping with loss and grief, drop-in programs, facilitated groups, special workshops (memory, anger management), and general health management. As well as these programs we also now have two independent Housing Programs. We have our Transitional Program, where you have up to 3 years to work towards personal goals around coping with Brain Injuries and then are transitioned into appropriate housing within the community. We also have a long term independent Housing Program, where you have access to safe and affordable housing, with landlords who understand Brain Injury and work one on one with clients to ensure they are moving forward, not back. We are also breaking ground on our 3rd set of housing the summer of 2018, as our wait lists are large for our housing and we have limited space. We will be building a 3 story, 27 unit apartment with office space on the bottom, where we hope to have locum doctors and other medical professionals be available for our clients so they too have access to the services only available down island or in Vancouver.
