Our Mission
It is the intention of the Vijaliwa Vingi Society for the Healthy Development of Children in Difficult Circumstances to develop, create, maintain, "a safe, healthy and loving home environment for children and youth whose families are unable to provide one for them."
About Us
The CanaDares Society for Street Children in Tanzania is a Canadian-registered charity, and is the fundraising partner of the Vijaliwa Vingi Society for the Healthy Development of Children in Difficult Circumstances. All of our Canadian and Tanzanian board members are volunteers.
Vijaliwa Vingi runs a residential program as well as community programs.
Your tax-deductible donations provide nutrition, shelter, education, medical care & recreation for a growing number of children in our residential program.
Additionally, we sponsor outreach work for families living with the most vulnerable children in the surrounding villages.
Our newest development includes the creation of two 30 student pre-primary classes in our multipurpose building. We are currently building the grade one classroom to continue feeding the community's demand for quality education.
History of CanaDares
Vijaliwa Vingi -- and CanaDares -- began as Lynda Kearn’s vision after 3 months volunteering in Tanzania. She learned that thousands of children lived on the streets of Dar es Salaam and that few of these children went to school. Lynda returned to Sechelt, BC, Canada determined to create a society to help as many children as she could. She asked friends and family to help and CanaDares was formed in May, 2002.
