We educate, inspire and connect thousands of visitors and children to the history of bush flying in Canada and its worldwide impacts.
The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre (CBHC) is more than a museum; it’s a place where history, community, and learning take flight. For nearly 40 years, the CBHC has been preserving Canada’s bushplane legacy while educating and connecting a variety of communities. In 2024, the CBHC:
*Welcomed over 57,000 total visitors, including 29,550 paid admissions.
*Educated 2,507 students and provided wellness-centred programming to 4,129 seniors and children.
*Hosted 10,186 attendees at large community and fundraising events.
*Generated $2.7 million towards the tourism economy.
*Employed 19 permanent staff, providing quality jobs in our Northern Ontario city.
*Supported other businesses and community groups through subleases or free space, including: Northern Superior Brewing Co., Entomica Insectarium, Air Cadets, Soo Plane Modellers and the White Pines Field School (alternative schooling for kids with disabilities).
Our impacts extend beyond the preservation of our Canadian bush flying and natural resource management heritage into education, public programs, group tours and a variety of community and private events. The museum has evolved into a community hub, hosting weddings, celebrations of life, local functions, and even the Bon Soo Polar Dip. It’s a place where history, learning, and community come together. From families and tourists making memories to students discovering science and aviation, to community members finding a welcoming place to connect, the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is woven into the fabric of Sault Ste. Marie. Every donation helps us protect our historic aircraft, keep our programs accessible, and ensure this landmark continues to serve and inspire for generations to come.
When you give, you’re not just supporting a museum, you’re strengthening a community resource that’s here for everyone.
