Building and Sharing Knowledge About Privacy and Information
We’re here to advance and disseminate knowledge about the issues of privacy and access to information in Canada. These include your family’s right to control information about yourselves. And they include your right to know the reasons government made the decisions that they did, and who was in the room as they decided. Our issues include Freedom of Information, product labeling, open government and open data, media democracy and freedom of expression, privacy, security, and surveillance.
Through research and education, we at CIIPS work to build peoples’ knowledge and understanding of access to information issues, including worldwide best practices and alternative approaches that may work better for individuals and society.
Support CIIPS
By making a donation to support CIIPS and our research and education programs, you can join with us to build society’s knowledge of these issues and their importance in ensuring democratic vigour and the protection of your family’s privacy.
Our Mission Statement
Through programs of research and education, we seek to increase public knowledge of access to information and privacy issues and enable individuals, communities, and peoples to achieve their full potential as democratic citizens in today’s information environment.
