Through is humanitarian and educational projects CIDO connects with people around the world in an effort to better people's lives with a specific focus on the Middle East.

Current CIDO projects are:

1. The Friends of the Foundation for Palestinian Studies. This project supports the Foundation for Palestinian Studies fund at the University of Waterloo. Our goal is to spark meaningful dialogue around Palestine: its history, its culture, and the challenges Palestinians face today.

We support the work at the University of Waterloo through financial contributions, volunteer work and by promoting the Foundation fund within our networks.

2. The creation of the Shireen Abu Akleh Emerging Reporter Fund in Social Justice Journalism at Carleton University. This fund will make reporting on issues of social justice more accessible to journalism students. It will inspire students from diverse backgrounds to consider how their ideas and perspectives are important to global issues.

3. A research undertaking in partnership with the Canadian International Council (CIC) and the Network for Democratic Solidarity (NDS). Shaping Narratives of Violence will study how the use and misuse of video content about Israeli/Palestinian conflict shapes discourse about Palestine and Israel at the international level.
