CMA Bursary Program
Registered Name: CANADIAN MUSEUMS ASSOCIATION- ASSOCIATION DES MUSÉES CANADIENS
Business No: 106864374RR0001
This organization is designated by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a registered charity. They comply with the CRA's requirements and has been issued a charitable registration number.
The CMA hopes to raise $10,000 dollars that will support between 15-30 individuals to attend the 2024 CMA National Conference in Niagara Falls, ON. These funds will be given as a supplement to the core program to cover registration fees, as well as travel expenses where necessary.
With your support, the CMA is building a supplemental fund to our existing CMA Bursaries program that will provide designated access for members of our community that face barriers in attending professional development events. Potential recipients may include Indigenous community members and other generally recognized equity-deserving groups, but also sector specific groups including small museum and emerging professionals. With your support, CMA can augment the bursary program to provide directed and unrestricted assistance to our community.
About the CMA Bursary Program
The CMA Bursary Program is a longstanding funding program delivered by the CMA with substantial support from the Canadian Government, through Museums Assistance Program funding. The program distributes $30,000 in funds to museum professionals annually in support of professional development. This year, due to the return of in-person events following covid-based cancellations, the program is nearing capacity. Additionally, core program restrictions prevent the CMA from allocating funding entirely as needed. The program will be reviewed by a committee in 2024 with a new proposal submitted to the Department of Heritage next Fall.
