It all starts somewhere. It starts with your help.
We don’t know where our passions will lead but we all remember that first time when it all started.
For Félix*, it was at the park, playing tennis with his dad when he was 7 years old. For Carson*, it was at her first ever tournament a few years back; she admits it wasn’t her best performance but she will always remember how much fun she had. For Charlotte*, it started as she watched her brother on the court and wanted to do the same.
At Tennis Canada, we are constantly working to build solid foundations in schools and parks to provide opportunities for kids 8 to 12 to adopt the sport of tennis. Still, it goes without saying that it is the success of our homegrown players that attracts them. Milos Raonic and Eugenie Bouchard first inspired thousands of kids to pick up a racquet. Today, our tennis superstars are followed by a new generation of talents who are just as impressive Félix Auger-Aliassime, Bianca Andreescu and Françoise Abanda are among the best and brightest that Canadian tennis has ever produced. They continue to set new records wherever they go and their triumphs in the coming years will in turn inspire an entire new generation.
We need your help to make sure all kids get that first opportunity to try a new sport. It starts with a first racquet, with an after-school community program, with easy access to courts. They may become Canada’s next champion or they may forever play in their neighbourhood park. Our goal is to get them started and experience the joy and maybe develop that same passion that drives our athletes.
Thank you for your support.
