Canadians for Leading Edge Alzheimer Research

about

Canadians for Leading Edge Alzheimer Research (CLEAR)  Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a singular mission: Eradicate all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer disease by funding research towards a cure.

Your gift will be used exclusively to support Alzheimer research, accelerating discoveries toward prevention and a cure.*

Our Commitment

To maximize the impact of every dollar donated, we direct 100% of all funds raised to promising scientific research into the cause, prevention, and treatment of Alzheimer disease and other dementia right here in Canada.

*CLEAR Foundation operating costs are covered by donations from the Board of Directors and investment income.

Our Goal

The research we fund could lead to the breakthrough the world has been waiting for. Or it could become a missing piece in other research—a catalyst to another lab’s groundbreaking discovery, here in Canada or somewhere else in the world. In the global fight against this unforgiving disease, we’re all in this together.

Our Impact

CLEAR Foundation has funded or committed to fund $17 million of research, and has leveraged that funding to $25 million through partnerships. Research is dependent on on-going donations. We fund research in three ways:1. CLEAR's Annual Operating grant2. Scholar Awards in collaboration with Michael Smith Health Research BC3. Trainee Awards in collaboration with Michael Smith Health Research BCOur research aims to discover the unknown causes of dementia while propelling new advancements in therapeutic treatments and prevention methods. To learn more about our advances in dementia research, visit our website.

Our Reality

  • 1 million Canadians will be living with dementia in less than five years
  • Every day, more than 350 people in Canada develop dementia. This is more than 15 every hour
  • 6.3 million people in Canada will develop, live with and/or ultimately die with dementia between 2020 and 2050
  • The cost of Dementia care provided in Canada by Care Partners in 2022 was equivalent to more than $7.3 billion dollars
By taking action and ensuring the continuous funding dementia research, we can change the future of this horrific disease for the next generation.
