Indian Cancer Campaign - We'll Double Your Donation!*

We'll Match Your Donation! Here at Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally Charity, we really appreciate your hard-earned gifts that support this and our many other programs. To make your gift go further, we're going to match it in 2026 and 2027 to a campaign total of C$100,000 all the way through to January 4, 2027 for a total benefit of C$200,000.

There's more - we'll make your gift go even further!  Not only are we all volunteers here with no paid staff, but the expenses of our few operational costs, including rent, internet, accounting and office materials, are donated by the founders of Canadians Sharing Charity.

SUPPORTING THE CANCER JOURNEY

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally helps ease the burden of critical support for under-served people in India. We donate specialized medical equipment, medicines, vitamins, disposables and protective equipment  in conjunction with the medical services our affiliates in India provide.  With your help, cancer patients and their families are supported with subsidized cancer treatments and much more!

These programs are critical in a patient’s cancer journey. However, your help is needed to make sure patients continue receiving these vital services.

CONDITIONS IN INDIA

In India, one in nine people are likely to develop cancer in his/her lifetime. Lung and breast cancers were the leading sites of cancer in males and females, respectively. Among the childhood (0-14 yr) cancers, lymphoid leukemia (boys: 29.2% and girls: 24.2%) was the leading site. The incidence of cancer cases is estimated to increase by 12.8 per cent in 2025 as compared to 2020.1

Not only does cancer affect your body; it affects your mental health, livelihood, family, and much more.

People diagnosed with cancer and their families often need practical and emotional support programs throughout the entire cancer journey: diagnosis, treatment, recovery and remission. For many in India, these programs are unaffordable.

PROGRAM GOALS - THE EQUIPMENT WE ARE FUNDRAISING FOR

This fundraising campaign will purchase a Radiotherapy System for The Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre near Vellore in Tamil Nadu, South India. This  equipment was chosen so that care teams at The Sri Narayani Hospital's Oncology Department can harness transformative technology and expand treatment options for underserved patients.

Additional medical units may include a double-photon energy unit, a brachytherapy afterloader (ideally for high dose-rate brachytherapy), a full range of applicators, a CT simulator, a computerized treatment planning system (TPS), patient immobilization devices, and equipment for beam measurement and quality assurance.

The total cost for this Varian TrueBeam Cancer Treatment System is approximately C$ 2,800,000. We have raised up to the end of 2025over $400,000 so far.  Your gift can still be doubled in 2026!

This radiotherapy equipment is aimed at treating an average of 1000 patients per year. About 75% of the patients served by Sri Narayani Hospital will be below the poverty threshold in India and require subsidized treatment plans.
