In India there were an estimated 270 million people with vision loss. Of these, 9.2 million are blind. With a percentage of vision loss of over 19%, one of the world's most populous countries has one of the highest rates of vision impairment and the greatest burden of blindness of any country.*
Vision loss is linked to socioeconomic disadvantage and the low vision community experiences high unemployment and underemployment rates. Our world was not built for the low vision community.
