The sad reality is that cancer is not taking a break during these unprecedented times. Those dealing with a diagnosis are now more frightened than ever as treatments and surgeries are cancelled and support from family, friends, and even us, has had to be compromised. Despite this we remain committed to providing free and practical supports as safely as possible.
We are supporting our hospitals as they try to free up beds for COVID-19 patients, by continuing to provide Free home safety equipment to patients who have been released from hospital in preparation for the expected increase in need for COVID cases.
To assist cancer patients who must continue treatment at the hospital we have increased the number of free parking spots we offer.
Due to the mandated physical distancing we cannot continue our free drive program but in response to the isolation of our clients we have launched a “drive-to-deliver” program. Beginning Thursday April 9th we will deliver incontinence products, nutritional supplements and pre-prepared foods to our cancer clients, in a contactless way, on a weekly basis.
Incontinence supplies and nutritional supplements are in high demand by our seriously ill clients. They nor their caregivers can leave their homes. This is placing great strain on their ability to access their daily needs. With that knowledge we are responding by delivering incontinence products, and nutritional supplements directly to our clients as required. With good nutrition being of the utmost importance for cancer patients as they gain strength and heal we have added pre-prepared food to these weekly deliveries.
The Cancer Assistance Program DOES NOT RECEIVE any sustainable government funding.
