Capitol Theatre Port Hope

about

CAPITOL THEATRE HERITAGE FOUNDATION commonly referred to as the Cameco Capitol Arts Centre is a professional regional theatre located 1-hour and 15 minutes east of Downtown Toronto where you will experience top quality productions, concerts, and special events in the historic and picturesque small town of Port Hope.

The Capitol has become a ‘must-see’ Ontario destination that has partnerships with local restaurants, cafes, merchants, accommodations and more to offer a complete “experience” to our guests

MISSION

The Capitol Theatre is dedicated to producing and presenting a balanced schedule of high-quality professional theatre, live music, film, and other special events in historic Port Hope, while also providing a home for the local arts community.

VISION

We are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive future, where all individuals, groups, and organizations are welcome to create, collaborate, and connect. We strive to provide memorable experiences for our guests through artistic excellence, a wide variety of programming, and the historic venue itself.

VALUES

We believe that the performing arts have the power to bring communities together, to facilitate respectful dialogue, and to provide cultural context for our shared experiences. We want to engage with the professional arts community, while providing participatory arts experiences and a variety of opportunities for non-professionals. We believe in creating a safe and inclusive environment for our patrons, performers, staff, and volunteers. We know that our strength lies in deep community engagement and diversity in all its forms. We take pride in the Capitol Theatre, as we build an organization that is sustainable, ethical, and socially responsible.
