Two severe earthquakes struck Türkiye and Syria. The impact was felt across several countries, crumbling homes and buildings. Thousands of people have been killed and the death toll continues to rise as rescues carry on.
Urgent action is needed as rescues continue, finding people injured and stranded outside in winter temperatures.
As in any emergency, women and girls are most vulnerable. Violence against women increases in the aftermath of a disaster, which means that safe shelter and protection for women and girls is crucial.
