Mission
The mission of Le Blé d’Or is to promote food autonomy, food security, social connections, and social inclusion in Sherbrooke by equipping the community with the tools needed to develop healthy, sustainable, accessible, and transferable eating habits.
Areas of Intervention
This mission is carried out through three complementary areas:
Educational Component To promote healthy eating habits through the development of culinary skills, food management and budgeting knowledge, and food hygiene and safety practices.
Economic Component To enable participants to prepare nutritious meals at very low cost, thereby reducing food expenses and improving food security.
Social Component To foster social participation, strengthen community connections, and reduce social isolation, particularly among individuals experiencing vulnerability.
Concrete Actions
More specifically, Le Blé d’Or:

Establishes and facilitates collective kitchen groups for the general population, in collaboration with numerous community organizations in Sherbrooke;

Delivers popular education workshops on healthy eating within community organizations and educational institutions;

Contributes to improving the socio-economic conditions of individuals experiencing food insecurity, particularly seniors and vulnerable populations (mental health challenges, substance use, autistic individuals, chronic illness, social reintegration, youth centres, immigrants, unemployed individuals, students, etc.);

Promotes food autonomy and works in collaboration with partners from the community, public, and private sectors in Sherbrooke.
