About CatNap (CATS NEEDING AID AND PROTECTION) SOCIETY

CatNap is a 100% volunteer-based non-profit registered Canadian charity that has been helping abandoned and homeless cats in Nanaimo, BC since 1998.

Every year, our group gives a second chance in life to over 600 domestic and feral cats. Our mandate is to rescue abandoned cats/kittens, have them spayed or neutered, provide them with any other necessary veterinary care, and find them loving homes. This helps prevent unwanted litters and reduce further suffering for these animals.

For some feral (wild) cats who are unable to be habituated to a home environment, after spaying or neutering, they are released back to their original colony location and shelter, food, and water is provided daily by dedicated colony caregivers.

We rely to a great degree, on financial donations and fundraising events. With minimal administrative overhead and no paid staff, approximately 99.5% of money raised is used for spaying/neutering, food/litter/foster care expenses, and obtaining appropriate veterinary care for the cats.
