CAYR Community Connects is deeply concerned about the impact the novel coronavirus (COVID 19) is having on our clients. When the World Health Organization declared a pandemic, CAYR knew it would need to reach out to the community to support its most vulnerable neighbours.

The people who seek support and services through CAYR already face serious barriers – some are experiencing poverty, others have compromised immune systems, some are experiencing homelessness, and others are struggling with mental health challenges.  The COVID 19 pandemic puts their health and well-being at risk and displaces them from the supports needed.

Funding is needed urgently to provide the following specific support:

• groceries purchased and delivered to those who cannot afford food and who have compromised immune systems
• transportation funds to get clients to medical appointments which are often outside of York Region and in Toronto
• telephone and online counselling to support clients through this crisis

We need your help and we urge you to think of your community members who need essential supports at this extremely challenging time.
