Description
The Central City Mission Society was founded in 1907 and is one of Vancouver’s oldest charitable organizations. The Central City Foundation continues the work of the Central City Mission Society providing safe, affordable housing and supporting programs that enhance the lives of people in need in Vancouver's inner city through grants to community agencies and community investments. In addition to providing grants to community organizations, the Central City Foundation holds community assets that include the Abbott Mansions and the Cosmopolitan Hotel that provide safe, affordable housing to more than 100 downtown eastside residents, as well as properties in development as a community childcare and family centre in Strathcona and for BC’s first long term Youth (both boys and girls) Drug and Alcohol Residential Treatment Facility - The Crossing at Keremeos.
