about

CUMFI has a long and successful history of programs, services and affordable housing in Saskatoon.  Our focus on improving the lives of Metis people has seen success due to our Board and staffs’ commitment to this philosophy.  Our success is also due to the strong relationship with all levels of government and in particular the City of Saskatoon.

During this time, CUMFI has grown to nearly 6000 registered members. CUMFI has demonstrated to its members and stakeholders the ability to be accountable and transparent based on the past and current program and service delivery evaluations and audits. CUMFI established corporate and community professionals and capabilities in delivering the preventive, intervention, and advocacy support programs and services to the Metis of Saskatoon.  CUMFI delivers programs and services to all in need and is not restricted to CUMFI members.

CUMFI is governed by a Board of Directors, elected for a three-year term by its registered members. The staff and volunteers recruited by CUMFI possess a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and a passion to work with Metis peoples. All staff must hold the minimum requirements and qualifications to conduct their role and responsibilities.

CUMFI has demonstrated to its members, community, and stakeholders the professionalism and capability to successfully deliver preventative, intervention, and advocacy support programs and services to the urban Indigenous people of Saskatoon. We continue to develop collaborative partnerships with various agencies and support groups to avoid duplication of program and service delivery. CUMFI works with all social issues in the core areas of Saskatoon inclusive of homelessness, addictions, counseling, HIV/AIDS, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Mental health, Fostering Families/shelters and programs, Elder Care, Children’s Group homes, Youth Justice, and partnerships with the Saskatoon Health Authority and Saskatchewan Health Authority
