Our mission

The mission of the Centre d'action bénévole du grand Châteauguay is to promote volunteer action in different fields of human activity and to respond to the needs of the community through volunteer action.

With this in mind, we work in collaboration and complementarity with the people living in our local community and the organizations located in our territory. We are a team of nearly 100 active volunteers & 13 employees.

Together, we provide more than 10 services aimed at countering the isolation of people over 50, improving their quality of life and promoting their stay at home.

WHAT WE DO

Services for individuals

Offered to caregivers, families and people over 50 who are losing their autonomy, at risk of exclusion or at risk of sliding into a state of vulnerability.​

Tax clinics; Accompaniment to medical appointments; Help with shopping; Compassionate visits; INFO 50 +; Listening to caregivers; Respite for caregivers; Walking club; Sécuricab​ ; Friendly visits; Kind calls.

Support for volunteers

Offered with the aim of helping volunteers continue their volunteer commitment over time. Together, we look for an interesting sector of activity that matches the interests and motivations of the volunteer.

Wishing to meet the needs of organizations with regard to volunteering, we give them access to extensive documentation and a range of tools addressing the themes of human resources management, volunteer recruitment and recognition.

Since 2021, we have been collaborating with Comité Mieux Vieillir de Sainte-Martine & Saint-Urbain-Premier to reconcile the sound management of their home meal delivery service & their support service. This involvement includes lending premises, hiring the first employee, taking charge of communications, as well as managing volunteers in order to sustain the service in the community.
