about

MISSION

The listening center Le Havre welcomes anyone who needs an attentive ear. Whatever their reason for calling or visiting, every person is received and accepted for who they are. By listening, Le Havre hopes to make a modest contribution to the humanization of the world. This service is anonymous, confidential and free. We can be reached by phone or in person, and no appointment is required.

HISTORY

In the fall of 1976, aware of the loneliness and distress often experienced by so many men and women, a group of people came together to think about a possible course of action. With the help of the Sisters of the Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil, they decided to create a listening center where people could express themselves freely in a welcoming and non-judging environnement. Thanks to the support of Tel-Aide, a first team of listeners was formed, and later, the group contacted the leaders of the Complexe Desjardins who were keen on having a welcoming place under their roof. On May 1, 1979, these steps culminated in the opening of Le Havre Listening Center at Complexe Desjardins. The Center was incorporated on May 7, 1979 as a non-profit organization.

In 2007, it left the Complexe Desjardins to settle in his current premises, at 1260, Ste-Catherine East, local 209, metro Beaudry.
