Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Centre for Newcomers has seen an increased demand for immediate service needs for our clients. Many of our clients do not qualify for the provincial and federal government supports that have been rolled out in the past week. As such, this makes them increasingly vulnerable to precarious housing and food insecurity.

To support the needs of highly vulnerable newcomers in Calgary, we have identified key areas that we will need support from donors and the community. 

• Funds for emergency grants to ensure our vulnerable clients do not go homeless or without food, and have money to pay utilities and meet other basic needs (providing additional support to our current Homelessness Diversion Program).
• Laptops/mobile devices and WiFi for some of our most vulnerable English Language Learner students to access their lessons virtually with their certified instructors.
• Support for increased demand for EI, Tax, & other government applications.

CFN is doing everything to protect our clients and staff during this stressful time, while providing a continuum of services virtually. We ask you to support CFN by donating towards our efforts of meeting client needs.
