About The Centre for Opera Studies & Appreciation

Dedicated to providing our country’s rising stars with elite training, Across Canada, COSA provides a variety of concert and opera performance opportunities and masterclasses for singers and pianist/coaches.  It encourages interested young Canadian singers and opera professionals-in-training to deepen their career-specific skills, and understanding of the language and the culture that produced Italian opera, at the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy (COSI). An intensive summer program, COSI stands apart from other proficiency courses of its kind; it alone succeeds in filling a distinct gap by fostering young Canadians’ opera talent in an international setting.

Open to both professional and amateur performers who possess talent and passion for opera, COSA is uncompromising in its pursuit of the highest degree of artistic excellence. This achievement attracts a distinguished faculty comprised of some of Canada’s most creative talents from the world of opera and theatre production. The faculty members’ individual reputations, coupled with the superior quality of directing staff and coaches, provides a nurturing experience where the artistry of these gifted young artists blossoms.
