We are the LaSalle D&D 50+ Centre, a not-for-profit charitable organization since 2017. We strive to provide an engaging environment for the minority English speaking community and decrease isolation by promoting wellbeing with community participation in a welcoming space to all 50+ older adults in LaSalle and surrounding areas. With approximately 200 members, over one half are over the age of 70, close to one third are no longer active members due to mobility issues, and several live on low fixed incomes. Our purpose is to offer programs that nurture all aspects (education, creativity, physical, and mental) of the English-speaking senior minorities in order to render an overall amelioration in their wellbeing.Our activities include our Frugal Living Program, Chair Yoga, Weights, Line Dancing, Art & Jewelry Making, and Therapeutic Recreation. The aforementioned contribute to group bonding, decrease stress and anxiety, increase social interaction, improve autonomy, and build self-esteem.
