CAH (Centres d'Accueil Héritage)

about

CAH has been around for over 40 years! Founded in 1978, we are is a non-profit organization providing services and programs catering to French-speaking seniors in the Greater Toronto Area.

OUR MISSION

To provide services and programs in French for seniors and their caregivers promoting their quality of life, supporting their independence and encouraging them to participate in the life of the Greater Toronto francophone community.

IMPORTANT FACT

Every dollar you donate to CAH through CanadaHelps goes 100% to projects designed to benefit our clients, whether they reside in Place Saint-Laurent (PSL) or the Greater Toronto Francophone community.

OUR FUNDRAISING FOCUS

The pandemic has more than ever illustrated the negative impact of isolation, in the short, medium and long term, especially among older populations. The special projects initiated by CAH in 2020, for which we are collecting your donations, are all aimed at bringing seniors out of isolation with the tools of the 21st century. We want to build our technological capacity, train our staff and clients to make better use of online resources, and assist them in acquiring the equipment and training required to take advantage of them. We also want to produce online resources that resonate with seniors and their caregivers in the francophone community.

WHAT WE DO

CAH provides affordable housing to the French-speaking elderly at PSL, whose 135 apartments include 100 subsidized units with the option of Supportive Housing for frail elderly and/or people living with HIV/AIDS. The range of CAH’s community health services includes: the Adult Day Program, Case Management, Homemaking, the Reintegration Care Unit, and the CAL (Centre for Active Living) publishing La Gazette newsletter.
