Adapted Recreation — Maintaining Inclusive & Social Opportunities for People with Disabilities in BC

The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC is a charity that has a vision for a life beyond limits for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We act on this vision by doing whatever we can to support the disability community in British Columbia.

Among our missions for advocacy and support, a major key to building a stronger community has to do with establishing inclusion. People with disabilities often experience feelings of social exclusion which can lead to lower self-esteem, confidence, and depression. We want to empower the lives of Canadians who live with disabilities. We want to have a way of tackling the issue and we did just that by creating recreational opportunities.

In response to concerns by our members and lack of engaging recreational opportunities for people with disabilities, we started Art Without Limits, Dance Without Limits and Adapted Yoga. All of these aim to create fun, educational and social environments for all ages and abilities.

Something that most people outside of our organization don't know is that our programs are completely free of charge. Attendees don't pay a penny to be involved in our programs yet we need funding to have great instructors and keep the doors open. Art, Dance and Yoga have been going on for several years in multiple locations across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. How have we been able to keep them afloat thus far?

The answer: the generosity of the public has been there to support us time and time again.

That's why we need your help.

Every $50 donated will help us keep our programs running for 2 hours. Your contribution will help us maintain these programs for the children, youth and adults who need it most. Any amount helps.
