This organization is designated by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a registered charity. They comply with the CRA's requirements and has been issued a charitable registration number.
The Cloyne and District Society is a not-for profit, charitable, volunteer organization whose mandate is to preserve and record the history of the local area and to share that knowledge with the public.
The Society's catchment area is the Highway 41corridor from Kaladar in the south to Denbigh and Griffith in the north, including Flinton to the west and Harlowe to the east.
Our collections, exhibited by archives, artifacts and documents factually reflect the history of this area beginning from settlement time in the 1850’s, having emphasis on such themes as settlement and pioneer life, logging, mining, tourism and the building of the Addington Colonization Road. With its unique development across county lines, its economic challenges after the departure of the timbering businesses and its determination to remain viable, this community has much fascinating history to explore.
