Napanee District Secondary School Class of ’75 Award (Covid -19 Response)

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

This one-time award will assist a 2020 graduate of Napanee District Secondary School (NDSS) to pay for post-secondary tuition who might not be in a position to do this on her/his own as a result of the present COVID-19 crisis.  This award is intended for a student who is not supported by major scholarships/bursaries.

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the finances of many people in Canada, Ontario, and in the Napanee area.  People may have been laid off or lost their jobs due to the closure of their employer’s business.  Recent graduates of NDSS may have been depending on salary from a summer or part-time job to pay for tuition, only to see that job disappear due to COVID-19.  The result of this is that students who have been accepted to post-secondary institutions for the fall of 2020 may not be able to attend simply because they cannot afford the tuition.  This award aims to help remove this barrier for at least one of these students.

Messages and Memorials:

In memory of my long-time friend and '75 classmate, Rob Wiggins.

In memory of Mr. Doughty.

In memory of my fabulous and funny friends MaryAnn Jane (O'Brien) and Robbie Wiggins.

As a former NDSS student I love this idea and am making a gift in memory of my late father Lorne Graves who taught there for many years.

Hope this is great, glad to help.

Good luck graduate! Work hard  and make us proud!

We are all in this together!

This donation is to help students overcome financial problems as a result of COVID19.

I challenge the Class of '73 to match my donation.

Happy to help!

I was fortunate to have benefited from my time at NDSS.  When I entered university the education received at NDSS had prepared me well and my adjustment was relatively easy. I see this as an opportunity to play it forward for a student of 2020.
