Chevra Kadisha of Calgary

about

The Chevra Kadisha of Calgary is Calgary's oldest Jewish communal organization.  It was formed in 1904 and incorporated in 1914.  Its mandate is to provide Jewish burial services to the Calgary Jewish community in the longstanding tradition of respect for the deceased and comfort for the mourners.  Services are provided in conformity to Jewish law and practice to all members of the Jewish community, regardless of their level of religious observance.  A dedicated group of volunteers commit to providing service through acts of chesed shel emet, deeds of loving kindness.

No one is denied services because of financial need.  The Chevra Kadisha does not engage in fundraising campaigns and is not part of community bursary programs.  Therefore, donor support is welcomed.  When donating, in the fund selection, please choose “Financial Cost Assistance Fund”.  The continuing support of Calgary B’nai Brith is acknowledged.

There are some special facility enhancement initiatives under way.  If you are donating to one of them, select “Capital Fund” in the fund menu and indicate who your donation is honouring.

The Chevra Kadisha commits to maintaining cemetery grounds even after they are full.  If you wish to support this effort, select “Perpetual Care” in the fund menu.
