Organization working to advance reconciliation through Land-based and outdoor education.
As educators, we know that the most powerful learning grows beyond four walls. It happens through relationships that inspire, moments of reflection, and deep connections to place.
At Child and Nature Alliance of Canada (CNAC), this understanding guides everything we do. We are a national charitable organization advancing reconciliation, equity, and justice through outdoor and land-based education. As we continue learning to be grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, our work supports children, educators, and communities across these lands to reconnect with the Land as a teacher, while honoring the distinct creation stories and perspectives of all Nations.
Each year, our facilitators work alongside schools, communities, and organizations to create learning experiences that foster respect, reciprocity, and belonging - helping learners of all ages build meaningful relationships with the Land and with one another.
As we begin our annual giving season, we invite you to reflect on how Land-based learning can nurture a more just and sustainable future, one where generations to come live in harmony with the land and each other. Your support helps us:
-
Strengthen Land-based education programs grounded in Indigenous knowledge
-
Support educators with tools, training, and community
-
Advance reconciliation through learning, relationship, reciprocity and accountability
-
Ensure that children and future generations can experience the Land as a teacher and relative rather than merely as a resource
Our work is guided by four principles: Truth, Courage, Community, and Accountability. These principles call us to listen deeply, act with humility, build trust, and honour our responsibilities to the Land, and future generations.
