Since 1919, the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg has been helping families across the city by providing much-needed toy and food hampers during the holiday season.

The Cheer Board is accessible to all Winnipeggers in need. We partner with social agencies across the city to ensure hampers reach the people who need them most.

Each year, recipients register by phone for a hamper. This information is then used to build and prepare hampers for pickup or delivery across the city. Every hamper includes food as well as gifts for children from up to age 14 if applicable.

The Cheer Board cannot meet these needs without the incredible support we receive from the community. Families, individuals, community groups, and businesses all contribute by raising funds and donating food, toys, money, and time.

Many others sponsor families through our Feed-a-Family Program.

Volunteers play a vital role—taking applications, wrapping toys, sorting food, and packing hampers. Students and business groups help assemble hampers, which are then distributed to families by pickup or volunteer delivery.

Special events such as the Manitoba Moose Teddy Bear Toss, ATU Fill-A-Bus, Tim's Holiday Smile Cookie and the St. Vital Christmas Miracle also help to raise essential funds and donations.

30% of the food and toys we distribute are donated by individuals and companies, with the remainder purchased with donated funds. The generosity of our donors and volunteers makes this all possible, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
