Our Mission
The general purpose of the City House Foundation is to provide financial support to the Sacred Heart School of Montreal.
The future at heart - Capital Campaign
Since 1861, The Sacred Heart School of Montreal, the preeminent all girls English Catholic high school, has been educating young women leaders within the framework of our five goals established by Foundress Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Since 1928, Sacred Heart Girls have called the City House on Atwater Avenue, home. The last major expansion or renovation to this grande-dame on the hill was in the 1990s – it is time for a re-new!
Today, we invest in the legacy we have inherited to be bold and successful in building the future at heart. Our continued success as a great school requires an investment in our students’ intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, as well as in the facilities and spaces where their development takes place. We are excited by the future and true to Sacred Heart tradition, we are focused on excellence in academics, the arts and athletics. Now is the time to further the excellence in our facilities. The exceptional programs, like the ones Sacred Heart offers, must be supported by spaces that reflect that commitment. In today’s competitive educational environment, we must match facilities to the level of teaching provided by the faculty and provide top value for our community’s educational investment.

A State-of-the-Art Auditorium
We need your help to continue to offer the best of academics, the arts and athletics that provide the transformative experiences that have long been the hallmark of an authentic Sacred Heart education. A new auditorium will enhance our already outstanding drama and music programs in a state-of-the art facility and provide a general assembly area for the whole school. This new performance space will allow us to further contribute to the Catholic community by offering the facility for events. It is also planned to provide a large open-air gathering area or “Crush Space”, at the front of the new auditorium, to allow our students, faculty, parents and alumnae a space for receptions and discussion.
Wellness Center
A new Wellness Centre will focus on the mind, body and health of each student and faculty member – this means being able to offer not only workout rooms to compliment our gym but nutrition and mental health seminars.
Classroom Technology
Finally, we are dedicated to providing 21st century technology in newly refurbished classrooms and in so doing, a general redesign and renovation of the school’s teaching spaces will take place over the next few years.
How do we accomplish this exciting project? By raising $5 million over the next three years.
