The Kinsmen Pool was closed in January 2024 due safety concerns over its deteriorating walls and roof.
Located at 424 Herbert Street in Pembroke, Ontario, this facility serves the region with users ranging from the City of Pembroke, the Township of Laurentian Valley, the Town of Petawawa, Whitewater Region, the Town of Shawville and beyond.
The building requires $1.1M of immediate repairs to re-open along with a minimum of $0.3M of repairs over the next five years. With options for replacement still under review, a fundraising campaign has been launched with the support of the Friends of the Pembroke and Area Pool to support the re-opening of the current facility and future aquatic services in the area.
Any funds raised through this campaign will be used for the construction, maintenance, repair and/or equipment of the current and any new aquatic facility.
