CityStudio is an innovation hub where municipal government staff, post-secondary students, faculty and community co-create experimental projects to make our cities more sustainable, liveable, inclusive and joyful.
Our main purpose is to advance education by coordinating and facilitating collaboration between municipal governments and post-secondary academic institutions. We provide practical learning experiences that help students get job skills while addressing key urban challenges and generating a sense of connectedness to the city.
Launched in 2011, we currently run two programs.
Locally, we work with the City of Vancouver, UBC, SFU, BCIT, Langara College and Emily Carr University delivering 30 course collaborations per year with up to 500 students.
We are also part of a global shift, licensing and supporting other cities to launch their CityStudios. There are other 11 CityStudios across British Columbia, Canada and abroad.
