Our Mission
To promote environmental protection through reduction, reuse and recycling of residential and industrial waste in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District.
We intend to fulfill this goal by establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with governmental and industrial bodies, and by means of public education activities including, but not limited to:
- Public school classroom presentations
- Public forums on waste management issues
- Guest speakers from other environmental groups and government
- Displays at public events such as home shows
- Publication of a quarterly newsletter
- Workplace waste reduction seminars
- Joint efforts with municipal bodies, i.e. promotion of Blue Box program
About CLEAN NORTH, THE SAULT AND DISTRICT RECYCLING ASSOCIATION
Since 1989, Clean North has been a citizens’ environmental group in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District. We are a grass roots organization run entirely by volunteers and funded through memberships, activities and charitable donations. Our goal is to promote environmental protection through reduction, reuse and recycling of residential and industrial waste. Current projects include Christmas tree chipping, eco-friendly laundry soap, community gardens, composting, rain barrels, litter cleanups and community tree planting.
