Since 2009 Closer to Home’s Adopt-a-Family campaign has been giving hope to thousands of vulnerable families in Calgary and the surrounding area during the holiday season. And, in that time, because of the generosity from people like you, we have raised over $4M during the holiday season for kids, youth and parents/caregivers.
Parents or caregivers are provided with big box store gift cards valued at $125 per family member. Parents/caregivers tell us that gift cards offer them the freedom to choose what their family needs – whether that is the basic necessities like diapers and food, winter clothing or gifts for their children.
We all know a vulnerable family’s needs don’t end with the holiday season. To aid in this continued support, a small portion of every Adopt-a-Family donation is directed to ourCommunity Fund, which supports families year-round, connecting them with more programs, services, and care through Closer to Home Community Services.
