about

Who We Are

At the Coalition of Muslim Women of KW (CMW), we believe that when women thrive, communities flourish. Since our founding in 2010, we have worked to empower racialized and newcomer women and girls to use their voices, claim their rights, and shape the future of our communities. Guided by the principles of equity, compassion, and social justice, our mission is to amplify the voices of Muslim women, challenge hate and gender-based violence, and build bridges of understanding across diverse communities. Every day, our work reflects the courage and resilience of the women we serve, each of whom deserves safety, dignity, and belonging.

Our Programs

Our programs are community-informed and rooted in care. Through our nationally recognized Reporting Hate in Canada tool, we provide a safe and accessible way for anyone in the country to report hate incidents and receive follow-up support. Our leadership and civic engagement programs equip women and youth with the skills to participate fully in public life and advocate for meaningful change.

Through initiatives like Towards Violence Free Homes and Dar-Al-Aman Transitional Housing Project, we are addressing the urgent housing and safety needs of Muslim and racialized women facing gender-based violence. These programs are culturally and spiritually safe spaces that pair trauma-informed support with practical tools like financial literacy, parenting workshops, and therapeutic art programming, to help women rebuild with confidence and hope.

Your Donation

A gift to CMW is an investment in your community with lasting effects. Your support helps a mother find safe housing for her children, a newcomer learn her rights, a survivor reclaim her confidence, and a young woman discover her power as a community leader. Together, we can continue to build a community where all women are safe, valued, and free to thrive. We invite you to stand with us in creating pathways to safety, belonging, and justice for all.
